Cuba declares the political will of the government to fight any discriminatory expression because they are all harmful to human dignity, said the president in a message on Twitter.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 1 as Zero Discrimination Day with the purpose of promoting actions that guarantee the right of every person to live a full life with dignity.

In Cuba, the 2019 Constitution recognizes the equality of all citizens and the prohibition of discrimination, which is endorsed in the current Penal Code, which punishes any manifestation of this type.

The Island implements the National Program against Racism and Racial Discrimination, approved by the Council of Ministers in November 2019 and executed by a Government Commission headed by the President of the Republic.

In addition, in March last year, the National Program for the Advancement of Women was approved, which has a comprehensive strategy for prevention and attention to gender violence and in the family scenario that prevents and penalizes any form of marginalization based on gender.

Cuba is a signatory to more than 40 international treaties and conventions on the protection of human rights, in the light of which it is proposed to update the Family Code, which is currently being submitted to popular consultation.
