Daily household chores can help reduce heart disease risk

Washington, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) Although good cardiovascular function is always related to physical exercise, scientists see household chores as a way to keep good health, a specialized source reported Wednesday.

¨Simply doing routine activities, referred to as daily life movement, including household chores, gardening, cooking and self-care activities like showering can significantly benefit cardiovascular health,¨ the Journal of the American Heart Association reported in an article.

The study found that participants who spent four hours each day completing “daily life movements” had 62% less of a chance of dying from cardiovascular or coronary heart disease. Plus, those in the study had 43% less of a chance of developing of developing either disease altogether and 30% less of a chance of experiencing a stroke.

The study showed that every movement counts for preventing ailments, since spending more time doing household chores decreases the possibility of suffering from them.

Scientists call it “movement of daily life”, and it encompasses the activities that are carried out when standing and walking inside a room, patio, kitchen or even working in the garden.

Experts cleared out that doing household chores is not enough, so they strongly recommend combining them with physical activity to improve quality of life.
