The embassy has about 20 officials and the Ministry will maintain only those necessary to help Japanese citizens living in Ukraine, the diplomat explained.
In a crisis situation, it’s not necessary to keep every staff member there, he added.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry warned against traveling to Ukraine for any reason and urged some 250 Japanese citizens residing in that European country to leave.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has told Parliament that he will deal with the problem properly using the Group of Seven (G7) framework.
