Putin expressed Moscow’s readiness to continue contributing to Nicaragua’s socioeconomic development, the Kremlin press service said.
The Russian president congratulated Ortega on his reelection to the highest governmental office and on his inauguration as president of Nicaragua last week.
The heads of State discussed important issues of bilateral cooperation in various spheres, in particular in the field of transportation and agriculture, the statement said.
In addition, they paid special attention to effective collaboration in the fight against the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, including the supply of Russian vaccines to Nicaragua and their joint production in that Central American country.
The parties stressed the importance of continuing close coordination in the international arena, in line with the Russia-Nicaragua strategic partnership.
Ortega expressed his gratitude to Russia for its solidarity with the Nicaraguan people. Both leaders agreed to keep in touch.
