At a press conference after talks in Moscow with his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, Lavrov said that Russia expects that the meetings on the proposals for legal security guarantees with the West will continue without delay.
“It is a very serious matter and it is simply not possible to delay it with specific agreements in this regard,” said the head of Russian diplomacy.
He stressed that Russia does not threaten anyone, while it is only listening to threats.
“I expect that all of this just reflects emotions that are stirring up certain forces within the camp in Western countries,” he said.
He assured that Russia will be guided by concrete steps and “depending on the measures taken by our partners, we will, of course, decide our reaction.”
Lavrov explained to Baerbock the unacceptability of the demands on the movement of the Russian Armed Forces in his own territory.
He said that he drew the visitor’s attention to how the North Atlantic Treaty Organization demands the transfer of units to the barracks, while affirming that the movements of its troops in the territories of that military bloc are nobody else’s business but NATO.
