On his official Twitter account, the ambassador noted that people and countries cannot be left behind in this effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. At the beginning of the year, the president of the UN General Assembly at its 76th session, Abdulla Shahid, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting actions for a sustainable and rapid recovery from the health emergency, and to achieving an equitable distribution of vaccines.

Since then, numerous ambassadors from the different UN member countries have expressed their support for this commitment on their official Twitter accounts and under the hashtag #VaccineEquity.

Cuba also joined the initiative that seeks to raise awareness in the international community.

Recently, Pedroso highlighted the high rates of Covid-19 vaccination in Cuba, which is among the leaders at the global level.

The Cuban ambassador tweeted that the Caribbean island maintains the second vaccination rate in the world and shared a link with detailed information about the immunization campaign in Cuba.
