CSTO forces hand over protected facilities in Kazakhstan

Moscow, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Thursday announced the beginning of the handover to the Kazakh authorities of state important facilities protected by the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

The Ministry also noted that the units began to prepare the materials and equipment transferred to that country to organize the return on the Russian fighter jets.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev confirmed on Wednesday that the withdrawal of the CSTO peacekeeping contingent begins this Thursday, January 13.

During a meeting of the operational headquarters in Almaty, the head of State said that the decision was informed to the heads of State of Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Tokayev reiterated his gratitude for the support provided to the nation over the last few days and stressed that the very presence of the CSTO contingent in Kazakhstan, even in Almaty, played a very important role in achieving stability in the country.

This Thursday, the Kazakh National Security Committee indicated that law enforcement agencies completed the anti-terrorist operation in 14 out of 17 regions where the situation is stable.
