According to information provided at the 8th regular session of the National Assembly (parliament), the estimated sugarcane production that must ensure this output is 10.2 million tons, which will allow the milling to take place in the optimal period, from December to April.
However, the workers from the sector will have to advance with the enlistment of agricultural and industrial equipment, as this is one of the elements that could jeopardize the achievement of objectives.
Other issues that may threaten this goal are the delay in the arrival of lines for maintenance and the timely availability of fuel, which currently affects the repair of roads and other agricultural tasks, according to the legislative meeting.
Production in the 2021-2022 harvest will mostly go to domestic consumption (500,000 tons), while 411,000 tons will be exported at a price estimated at 16.90 cents per pound, equivalent to 372.47 dollars per ton.
