Body: Putin stressed the importance of immediately starting international dialogues to develop legal commitments that exclude the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in border countries and the deployment of weapons, especially in Ukraine.
In this sense, the Russian head of state informed his French counterpart about the efforts being made by his country’s diplomacy to achieve positive results that favor stability and regional order.
As part of the dialogue, representatives of Moscow and Paris expressed their views on the current situation in Ukraine, in this regard, Putin exemplified Kiev’s violations of the Minsk agreements.
He highlighted the possibility of holding a new summit in the Normandy format, in correspondence with the steps taken by the Ukrainian authorities in the implementation of the package of measures signed in 2015 to peacefully resolve the crisis in that country.
During the exchange of opinions, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the stability of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, and praised the efforts being made to build a peaceful life and reestablish economic and transportation ties in the region.
On other issues, Putin drew attention to the restrictions faced by members of the Russia Today news channel in France, expressing the hope that staff will be given the same opportunities to work as the French media in Russia.
