This situation “ratifies that nothing has changed in regards to Trump and Biden follows his script” against Cuba, the former presidential advisor told Prensa Latina.
He said that the policy “is a clear signal to progressive governments, among them the one just elected in Chile, that any getting closer to Cuba will be [penalized] by the United States.”
Trump included Cuba in January of this year in the list of countries promoters of terrorism in his last days as President.
Barack Obama struck Cuba out from the list as part of his rapprochement policy of slowly normalizing relations with Cuba after over half a century of blockade.
The process was cut short and reversed by Trump, who enacted 243 measured aimed at worsening the blockade on Cuba, with Biden failing to continue said process despite public vows to take it onward.
