The naval group includes frigate Admiral Grigoróvich with a deck helicopter on board, patrol ship Dmitri Rogachov and rescue tug boat SB-742, under the orders of commander of the naval base of Novorossiysk from the Black Sea Fleet, Rear Admiral Victor Kochemazov.
According to the statement, during the exercises in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, in the area of the Gulf of Alexandria, the Russian and Egyptian warships will operate from December 3 to 10 under a unified plan and a joint general direction.
Actions are planned to counteract attacks by supposed maritime enemies, inspect suspicious ships, organize antiaircraft defense and refuel at sea from a helicopter.
The objective of the practices is to prepare and plan joint actions to protect maritime areas with restricted access from various threats, carry out search and rescue operations and inspect suspicious vessels, the Black Sea Fleet of Russia reported.
Russian-Egyptian Friendship Bridge maneuvers have taken place every year since 2015. In 2020, they took place in the Black Sea and allowed participating ships to enter the port of Novorossiysk.
