Secretary (Consular, Passport and Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs) Sanjay Bhattacharyya said the country responded to protect migrant workers stranded across the world during the current pandemic.
Bhattacharyya addressed the 112th session of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Council meeting on the Impact of Covid-19 on Borders, Migration and Mobility: Learning Lessons and Preparing for the Future.
The official added that the India-European Union Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility provided better understanding and led to mutually beneficial mobility partnerships with countries such as Denmark, France, Germany and Portugal, as well as negotiations with others.
