Tribute in China evokes Fidel Castro’s legacy

Beijing, Nov 25 (Prensa Latina) The political legacy, trajectory and thought of Fidel Castro focused today in China the tribute paid to him by Cuban officials and representatives, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of his death.

The ceremony was held at the Havana embassy here and every moment illustrated the ideals of solidarity, independence and also unity in Latin America and the Caribbean promoted and defended by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

The political advisor of that diplomatic headquarters, Andro Vázquez, highlighted the formation of his character from a very young age thanks to constant study, reading and deepening in topics of interest.

He referred to Fidel’s determination for Cubans to have a high level of education, which materialized since the early years of the Revolution with the transformation of former military barracks into educational centers.

He also recalled his permanent concern for children and young people, the exchanges he had with these sectors and the actions aimed at guaranteeing the development and future of the new generations.

During the meeting, the youngest children received the book “A Child Called Fidel Alejandro”, a poem dedicated to the leader was read and a video of the tribute paid to him by the President of China, Xi Jinping, and his government team at the Cuban embassy in Beijing after it was known he had died.

In addition, this Thursday, a citizen spontaneously placed a wreath in front of the photograph of the Caribbean leader, located at the entrance of the embassy.

Fidel Castro died on this date in 2016 and his death moved millions of people around the world because he achieved a solid international projection while he was leading the country.
