In a communiqué released by Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia on his Twitter account, he expressed that “it is regrettable that in the absence of its own foreign policy and in order to comply with the United States’ expectations, Canada resorts to ignore an electoral process widely validated by more than 300 international observers.”
The text described the statements as a political pamphlet, which has nothing to do with a sovereign State.
“Ironically, they question the context of the recent elections, but it was the only country that took concrete actions to prevent Venezuelan residents in Canada from voting at the Embassy and consulates in 2018,” the document stresses.
Similarly, the communiqué refers, Canada speaks of the affectation to the economy and human rights while it applauds, supports and promotes illegal coercive measures against the Venezuelan people, which are crimes against humanity.
“In the face of such cynicism, the Government of Venezuela demands that Canada immediately lift its illegal coercive measures and its political and material support for corrupt persons who promote the embezzlement of assets belonging to the State,” the text stated.
