Fernando-Gonzalez-Da-Silva
Havana, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel today expressed his sorrow over the death of the correspondent in Cuba of the U.S. news agency The Associated Press (AP) Fernando González Da Silva.

On Twitter, the Cuban leader wrote: We share grief for the sudden death of the Director of @AP_Noticias in #Cuba, where he left a mark of affection and respect for the profession.

On Monday, the International Press Center (CPI) lamented on that social network the decease of the AP chief correspondent in Havana, whom it recognized for his vast experience, objectivity and respect in the news coverage of Cuba.

In its message, the CPI sent condolences to González Da Silva’s family and to the entire AP team.

Fernando González Da Silva, born in Uruguay, died the day before in this capital at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack.

He had served as Associated Press news director for the Caribbean and Andean region since 2020.
