Venezuelan president calls to work for people’s welfare

Caracas, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Monday called on the authorities elected in the regional and municipal elections to work for the welfare of the people above any political differences.

At the Miraflores Palace, seat of the Executive, the President celebrated the victory of the candidates of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and its allies of the Great Patriotic Pole in a total of 21 federal entities, 20 governorships and the Mayor’s Office of Caracas.

The head of State sent a message of gratitude to the Venezuelan people for the electoral victory that strengthened the PSUV as the main political force in the country.

Likewise, he reiterated his call to all Venezuelan parties and candidates to respect the results issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE) early Monday, after 90 percent of the votes cast were counted.

A total of 8,151,793 citizens voted in the regional and municipal elections, CNE President Pedro Calzadilla informed.

Calzadilla described this Sunday’s elections as special and successful, in which the democratic spirit of the Venezuelan people prevailed once again.

Venezuelans cast their votes to elect the country’s 23 governors and 335 mayors, in addition to the members of regional and municipal legislative councils.
