Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), explained that the death toll amounts to 8,290, accounting for a lethality rate of 0.86 percent.
In his regular press briefing on television, Dr. Duran stated all molecular biology laboratories in Cuba made 19,424 PCR tests in real time on Thursday to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, totaling 10,889,358 samples so far.
The doctor stated that 1,385 active cases remain hospitalized, 1,340 of which are clinically stable, 30 are seriously ill and 15 are in critical condition.
On Thursday, 348 patients were discharged from hospitals, so the number of recoveries totals 950,453, representing 99.0 percent.
Holguin province (east) reported the highest figure of Covid-19 cases in the country with 65, followed by Sancti Spiritus (center) with 38 and Camagüey with 36 patients, the note added.
