Federal authorities made various efforts to achieve peace, but the belligerent attitude of the TPLF made them moot, Redwan Hussien, Minister of State for International Relations, declared.

After expanding the conflict to Afar and Amhara, the Front caused an increase in displaced persons and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in three regions, Hussien commented in a telephone conversation with the United Kingdom’s undersecretary of state, Victoria Ford.

Regarding humanitarian assistance, Hussien reiterated the government’s commitment to carry out more efforts to help the victims and facilitate the access of international agencies to national territories.

He also cited the agreement with humanitarian organizations to resume flights transporting food and essential items to Mekele and Semera, capitals of Tigray and Afar, and to Kombolcha, in Amhara.

The appropriate institutions are also facilitating land transportation through Abala (Afar), as Hussien noted, and stressed that the TPLF hijacked and used for military operations more than 860 trucks destined to bring aid to millions of citizens.

Ford, for her part, urged to promote a political solution to the conflict, adopt measures to promote mutual trust and stop violent speeches on social networks, according to an official communication.
