Eyewitnesses pointed out that the contingent is decimated because more than 1,500 members have accepted the cards issued by the government, giving them legal status to get a job and settle in the country until their migration status is resolved.

A similar number of people, who cling to reaching the border knowing they have little chance of entering the United States, still keep the hope that the Joe Biden administration will rectify and finally open US borders as promised during his electoral campaign.

The latter seems very remote according to many observers, since the president prefers to resort to plans that discard the mass entry of undocumented people, and heads to Mexico’s proposals to approach migration from its social causes with the development of welfare plans in the countries of origin.
