Iran enriched uranium under UN knowledge

Irán, enriquecimiento, uranio, OIEA
Tehran, nov 18 (Prensa Latina) Iran's peaceful nuclear program never abandoned the inspection program of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mehr news agency noted today.

According to Iranian acting representative to the UN atomic agency, Mohammad Reza Ghaebi, processes involving fissile material at Natanz and Fordow sites are still under inspection by the international institution.

With new cascade and centrifuge units, the two plants enriched uranium up to 60 percent purity, beyond the level of 3.67 established in the Comprehensive Plan of Joint Action (CPOJA) or nuclear agreement.

However, Ghaebi said, the IAEA was aware of the operations.

The Iranian diplomat’s comments respond to a recent report intending to accuse the Islamic republic of CPOJA violations.

The report focuses on Tehran’s refusal to inspect a site in Karaj that, Ghaebi explained, is in the middle of an investigation after a terrorist action and there is currently no possible access.

Iran asked the IAEA for help with the investigation, but so far there has been no answer.

Despite technical differences between the UN body and the Iranian counterpart, there is communication and prospects for solving them, the representative said, and suggested other members of the entity to refrain from issuing hasty or political comments.
