Lula to restore Brazil’s credibility after receiving award

Brasilia, nov 17 (Prensa Latina) Former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said in Paris, France, he intends to restore international credibility of Brazil, after receiving today the 2021 Political Courage award by the Politique Internationale magazine.

“I am not looking for electoral support because the people I meet do not vote in Brazil (…) I am seeking to restore the credibility that Brazil already had”, as expressed by the founder of the Workers’ Party at luxurious Parisian hotel George V.

He indicated that “whether or not I am a candidate, I am working hard, hard, to defeat Bolsonaro, so that some democrat wins the elections”, and confirmed that 70 percent of Brazilians reject the former military as president.

Lula also stood for repairing the 2019 trade agreement between the European Union and the South Common Market after the 2022 elections.

“Its closure was wrong, hasty (…) After 2022, after the electoral processes in several countries, it is necessary to meet again around a table without prejudice, with the idea of making a good agreement”, he said.

Founded in 1978, Politique has previously granted the award to Pope John Paul II, former Egyptian President Anwar al Sadat and former South African head of state Frederik De Klerk, who helped end apartheid.
