The president commented on Twitter after his recent meeting with scientists and specialists who engineered Cuba’s vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.
The head of State learned on Tuesday about the progress in studies with national vaccines for the pediatric population, even in children convalescent from the infection caused by the virus.
Dr. Dagmar García, director of research at the Finlay Vaccines Institute, recognized the effectiveness of these projects, after the recent approval by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices of the emergency use of the Soberana Plus vaccine in children aged 2 to 18.
Over the last eight consecutive weeks, Cuba has maintained a decrease in the number of infections, patients in serious conditions and deaths as vaccination advances.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, more than 27 million doses of Cuban-made vaccines have already been administered.
On the other hand, authorities reported that on November 14, 8,679,636 people had completed their vaccination scheme, accounting for 77.6 percent of the population.
