Speaking at the entity’s annual meeting, which brings together small and medium-sized Italian companies from different sectors, president, Patrizia De Luise, estimated the online buys in that period at around 50 billion euros, 40 percent more than in 2019.
After demanding equal rules for all, De Luise recognized as something positive the announced global tax of at least 15 percent on profits of large transnational companies, but recalled that the measure will take effect in 2024.
Likewise, the business leader warned that the recovery of consumption levels will be a slower process than that of the economy in general and it is likely that in 2022 they will still remain below those registered before the start of the pandemic in February 2020.
For his part, President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, welcomed the celebration of the Confesercenti meeting in the year of its 50’s birthday, on which occasion he highlighted such system’ s contribution during the pandemic.
In this sense, the president underlined the impact investments planned in the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan will have on small and medium-sized companies.
