Date of online meeting between Presidents of China and US confirmed

Beijing, Nov 13 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China stated that the President Xi Jinping will hold an online meeting with his US counterpart Joe Biden next Tuesday in order to analyze bilateral ties, highly strained by differences on different spheres.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the leaders will also review issues of common interest during the meeting.

The talks are a follow up to two telephone contacts held this year between the parties and also talks between other senior government officials.

The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, spoke with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, as a preamble to the presidential meeting and highlighted its impact on the bilateral and global level.

“Our peoples and the international community hope that this meeting will yield beneficial results for both countries and the world. The two heads of state will play a fundamental role in strengthening relations,” said the Beijing diplomatic chief.

However, he noted that it is necessary to find a common ground in the differences and also called on the United States to refrain from supporting Taiwan’s separatist intentions, because it would threaten peace, violate mutual treaties and bring consequences.

Blinken, for his part, said that everyone will closely follow the talks between both Presidents, spoke of the respective preparations and expressed Washington’s willingness to share its views on ties with Beijing on the basis of respect.
