Iran ratifies its right to self-defense

Irán, derecho, autodefensa
Tehran, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) Iran on Friday ratified its right to possess security and military defense capabilities, which will be outside any negotiation and especially during the next talks on nuclear issues in Vienna, Austria.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri Kani, head of the mission for the meetings in the Austrian capital, stressed that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) only covers the atomic energy sector.

The deal signed in 2015 between Iran and the 5+1 group has a specific framework on nuclear issues, he said, the others are irrelevant.

Iran and the remaining signatories to the pact (the United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany), as the United States abandoned it in 2018, held six rounds of talks in Vienna, which have been on hold since June.

Aimed at finding a formula so that the United States can return to the treaty, none of these meetings resulted that the anti-Iranian coercive measures implemented by Washington are eliminated.

Another of Iran’s demands is to establish a commitment that future US Governments respect the JCPOA and do not make a mockery of the UN and the international community.
