In statements to Venezolana de Television state-owned channel, Calzadilla stressed that all experts and officials of the organizations and institutions invited to accompany the elections are subject to operating guidelines, agreements and ethics manuals.
The observation program includes missions from the European Union, the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CEELA), the Carter Center (United States), a United Nations panel, the Network in Defense of Humanity, delegations of prominent figures, intellectuals and electoral authorities from different countries.
Regarding the progress in the logistical, technical and organizational preparations for the so-called mega-elections, the CNE president confirmed that more than 90 percent of the country’s polling stations have already received the automated voting machines.
More than 20 million Venezuelans are called to vote to elect the country’s 23 governors and 335 mayors, in addition to the members of regional and municipal legislative councils.
