Under the message “Ayurveda for Nutrition”, the Indian center -operating at La Pradera International Health Center (CIS)- starts off a new consolidation phase after two-year limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CIS Director Dr. Cristina Valdivia said.
We will not work to gradually extend Ayurveda treatment (millenary traditional and natural Indian medicine) to National Health System Units but also to provide health services to foreign patients who decide to be treated in Cuba, Dr. Valdivia stressed.
Speaking to Prensa Latina News Agency, Indian Ambassador Dr. S. Janakiraman said CIS shows “strong ties of cooperation and friendship between India and Cuba that are shown in manifold fields.”
She recalled that the idea of setting up this institution emanated from the Cuban Health Minister´s official visit to India in 2017, which helped to strengthen both medical and biotechnological collaborations.
Ayurveda medicine emphasizes good health, preventing and treating disease by using lifestyle practices such as massage, medicinal essences applications, meditation, yoga and dietary changes, as well as the use of herbal remedies.
As part of the event, the CIS signed a cooperation and supply agreement with the agro-ecological project AgroGourmet, a private food production enterprise that will supply them with vegetables they need to feed their patients.
