Turkish army sends reinforcements to its troops in Syria

Damascus, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) The Turkish army on Wednesday sent at least 200 military vehicles to its positions in Syria's Idlib province, 335 kilometers northwest of Damascus, SANA news agency reported.

According to local activists quoted by the news outlet, the reinforcements entered through the illegal Khirbet al-Joz crossin, in western Idlib, and consisted of advanced weapons, ammunition and logistics material.

The sources stated that this convoy headed to the dozens of Turkish and other military points of extremist organizations sponsored by Ankara in western Idlib and the Jabal al-Zawiya plateau.

A week ago, Turkish armed forces deployed a column consisting of 31 armored vehicles and trucks laden with logistics equipment, ammunition, weapons and cement blocks.

This comes a day after Turkey’s Parliament extended the mandate authorizing the armed forces’ operations in the country, in northern Iraq and Syria, until October 2023.

Turkey has illegally controlled large areas in northern Syria since 2018 and has maintained 114 military posts and points, which are distributed in five provinces: Aleppo (56), Idlib (45), Raqa (nine), Hasakeh (four) and Latakia (two).
