Cuba attends General Assembly of International Solar Alliance

New Delhi, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) Cuba participated in the 4th General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which held a virtual debate on the development of renewable energy sources, a diplomatic source told Prensa Latina on Thursday.

Energy and Mines Minister Livan Arronte Cruz represented Cuba during the event, in which 260 delegates from different nations are participating.

Energy ministers and representatives of international entities, such as the Latin American Energy Organization and the International Renewable Energy Agency, discussed the strategic plan for the next five years, which includes the development of photovoltaic solar energy at affordable costs.

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a New Delhi-based organization launched under India’s initiative to promote the efficient exploitation of solar energy and reduce dependence on the use of fossil fuels that pollute the atmosphere and cause global warming.

Cuba is a full member of ISA and vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean.

India’s Energy Minister Raj Kumar Singh and Director General of the International Solar Alliance, Dr. Ajay Mathur, chaired the event.
