French deputies ratify rejection of blockade against Cuba

Paris, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) Deputies from various political forces in the French National Assembly reiterated their rejection of the US blockade against Cuba during a farewell meeting with Cuba's ambassador Elio Rodríguez.

At the headquarters of the Lower House of Parliament, members of the France-Cuba Friendship Group highlighted their solidarity with Cuba and their commitment to continue working to achieve the end of the blockade.

They also expressed their willingness to support the strengthening of bilateral ties, in a meeting in which they awarded the National Assembly medal to Rodríguez for his contribution to the development of Paris-Havana relations.

The event was led by the president of the friendship group, François-Michel Lambert, and the deputies André Chassaigne, Loic Prud’homme, Jérome Lambert, Eric Coquerel, M’jid El Guerrab, Jean-Michel Clément participated, among others. , Pierre-Alain Raphan and Nicole Le Peih, as well as the National Secretary of the Communist Party, Fabien Roussel.

The Cuban ambassador thanked the parliamentarians for their solidarity, denounced the effects of the US blockade on the daily lives of Cubans and recalled the impact of the blockade on bilateral relations.

Rodríguez also highlighted the state of ties between the two countries in the political-diplomatic, economic-commercial and cooperation spheres, and Cuba’s willingness to deepen them in all sectors.

He also shared in the meeting with the French deputies an update on the current situation in Cuba, its achievements in facing the Covid-19 pandemic and the actions aimed at economic recovery.
