A report by this organization added that while the Caribean tourist destination are ever moving towards certain aparent normalcy, preliminary data back this claim amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
During this period, 6.6 million tourists have arrived in the Caribbean, that is, a 12-percent decline compared to the same period in the previous year.
In late May, 5.2 million arrived in this region, that is, a 30.8-percent decline compared with the same time in 2020, considerably better than the global average, with a 65.1 decrease.
Of the main analyzed regions, the Americas, which include the Caribbean, reported a 46.9-percent decrease, so no other area had a better trend than the 63-percent drop of arrivals.
Although the arrival of tourists remained below the figures before the pandemic, the results of the first half were favored by a surge in the second half.
In that second quater, the visits of tourists to the Caribbean increased between 10 and 37 times compared to 2020.
There was constant improvement because the number of tourists went from 1 million in April to 1.2 million in May and 1.5 million in June, regarding data collected by the research department of that organization.
