Addressing a meeting marking the 110th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution, the president said that the separation arose out of China’s ‘weakness and chaos’, but it will be resolved when national revitalization becomes a reality.
‘Reunification by peaceful means best serves the interests of the Chinese nation as a whole, including the compatriots in Taiwan,’ Xi said, after calling that all citizens, including those on the island, must reunite to achieve that goal.
Safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests, deepening reform and opening policies, optimizing governance, enhancing social welfare and achieving common prosperity are vital, Xi noted.
Internationally, Xi reiterated China’s willingness to strengthen solidarity with all countries of the world and engage in the struggle against hegemony and power politics.
