Cuba surpasses 50 percent of population vaccinated against Covid-19

Havana Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuba reported 52.3 percent of its inhabitants (five,847,755) with the complete vaccination scheme against Covid-19,the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) informed on Friday.

According to the latest report published by Minsap, until October 6, 9,571,923 people had received at least the first dose of one of the vaccines produced in Cuba, which represents 85.6 percent of the country’s entire population (approximately 11,180,000).

The toll makes up 97,8 percent of all healthy people who are eligible to be vaccinated with the Cuban-made Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala vaccines.

The percentage exceeds the world average, as only 46.3 percent of the planet’s inhabitants have received the initial injection, according to statistics from the Our World in Data, an information platform.

Cuba tops the list of Latin American countries with the highest percentage of people in this situation.

Of the more than nine million Cubans mentioned above, there are 6,938,192 (62 percent) who have received the second dose and 5,606,45 (50.1 percent) have received all three doses.
