Cuba promoted tourist destination at French fair Top Resa

Paris, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuba presented its natural, cultural and historical attractions at the 42nd edition of the IFTM Top Resa show for tourism professionals, an event that concluded today in the French capital after a week of activities.

The Cuban ambassador in France visited the Cuban stand at the Puerta de Versalles exhibition site and dialogued with tour operators that are present in Cuba.

The diplomat stressed to Prensa Latina the relevance of Top Resa and the opportunity it represented to promote the island as a safe tourist destination with great cultural, natural and historical heritage.

The Cuban ambassador recalled that in addition to the pandemic, the island is dealing with the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, a hostile policy promoted by the administration of Donald Trump that remains intact under the administration of his successor in the White House, Joe Biden.

French tour operators reiterated at the fair their interest in Cuba and their willingness to work together in the tourist reactivation expected in less than a month.

Cuba is one of our main destinations, and we want to place it in all travel agencies in France, through modalities such as tourist circuits, autotours and a la carte, Christophe Troalic, commercial director of Decoov, a tour operator very active in Europe and Latin America, told Prensa Latina.

Troalic pointed out that the island has been in Decoov’s offer portfolio for seven years, with more than 4,000 clients in a normal year.

Katia Darchy, general director of the tour operator Sol Latino, also celebrated the return of tourism to the largest of the Antilles and shared her expectations with the start-up, after 18 months affected by the health crisis.

We know it will be a gradual start, but the French clients will always go to Cuba, because it is a destination that meets the expectations of a cultural client, restless and willing to move, she said.

According to Darchy, during the four days of Top Resa, travel agencies showed their interest in the Caribbean country and their willingness to be part of the reopening.

It could not be otherwise, Cuba despite the blockade and the pandemic, remains an authentic country, with heritage cities and wonderful beaches, exceptional landscapes and a welcoming and smiling population, which always welcomes the French, she stressed.
