Cuba presents development programs at Unctad

Havana, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) A Cuban delegation presents today its economic programs before the XV Ministerial meeting of the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (Unctad).

Island’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex), Rodrigo Malmierca, will explain this Tuesday through a virtual platform the island’s plans and efforts to face problems and provide solutions.

The meeting began last Sunday and will last until Thursday, carried out in Bridgetown, Barbados, it will be attended on-line.

The Cuban delegation is led by Malmierca, and is also made up of Deputy Minister of Mincex, Déborah Rivas, along with the representation of the Permanent Mission of Cuba in Geneva, and the island’s embassy in Barbados.

Members of the Mincex Department of International Economic Organizations and Department of Multilateral Affairs of the same entity also attend.

Unctad XV meeting will take place at a time aggravated on a global scale by the impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The main theme of the Conference is From inequality and vulnerability to prosperity for all.

Member States are expected to adopt a document containing the Organization’s provisions for the next four years.
