She had a long and fruitful career, especiallly working for Granma, official newspaper of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Marta Rojas was granted the Jose Marti National Journalism Prize in 1997.
She also won the 2006 Alejo Carpentier Novel Prize.
A founder of Granma daily, she worked there as head of Information, chief editor and head of its cultural page.
Rojas worked as war correspondent in South Vietnam and Cambodia from 1965 and 1975, the first Cuban and Latin American journalist to do so.
Some of her literay works are: El columpio de Rey Spencer (Rey Spencer’s Swing), Santa Lujuria (Holy Lust), El harén de Oviedo (Oviedo’s Harem), and Inglesa por un año (English for One Year).
