Russia assures Gazprom meets all contractual gas commitments to EU

Moscow, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov on Sunday assured the Russian Company ¨Gazprom¨ fully meets its contractual commitments to supply gas to Europe and is also ready to export even more.

Interviewed by the TV channel Russia 1, Mr. Peskov claimed that it is possible to pump more Russian gas to Europe and that Gazprom is also interested in doing so.

Regarding services provided, Peskov pointed out that no one has made any complaints, ‘and there cannot be any.’

‘Gazprom has always proved its reliability in all circumstances,’ Peskov told journalist Vladimir Soloviov, reminding that European gas consumers are the main buyers of Russian gas.

For Peskov, the US complaints the Russian company is to increase gas pumping across Ukraine as ‘black propaganda’. On September 21, the senior adviser on Energy Security of the US State Department Amos Hochstein, told Bloomberg that Moscow should ramp up its gas supply to Europe throughout Ukraine as soon as possible.

Hochstein stressed that some EU countries may have insufficient gas reserves in the event of a colder than usual boreal winter.

In response to Hochstein’s words, Peskov replied it is impossible for Russia to increase the transit of gas before it is contracted.

He clarified that a very simple truth is that gas is first sold, then extracted, and only then transmitted, making it impossible to transport the gas without selling it.
