Gov’t of Spain implements special plan for volcano-hit La Palma (+Photos)

Santa Cruz de La Palma, Spain, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, announced the creation of a Mixed Commission to help mitigate the damage in the volcano-hit island of La Palma, Spain.

Sanchez spoke of the consequences of the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, and promised aid with the participation of the Government of Canarias, the La Palma government council and the city halls of Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso and Tazacorte.

Having participated on Friday in the Director Committee of the Special Plan of Civil Protection and Volcanic Threat Emergency Management, Sanchez informed of the implementation of a Special Plan for the Reconstruction of La Palma.

‘The inhabitants of La Palma should know they will have the backup of all their administrations with all the tools of the State,’ he said.

He also said that the executive will activate immediately an inter-ministry group led by the Minister of the Presidency, Court Relations and Democratic Memory, Felix Bolaños.

‘The power of science has allowed us to save lives in La Palma and the power of the State will allow us to rebuild the daily lives of the inhabitants of this marvelous island’, Sanchez said.

Sanchez went on to state that rapid-action measures are being contemplated aimed at mitigating the damage that demands whose repairs with a greater urgency, and future initiatives to design a structural strategy that will be activated once the volcano ceases its activity.
