The court considered that there are serious doubts about the legality of this construction license, irregularly granted by Mayor of Aubervilliers Karine Franclet. It upheld the plaintiffs’ claim and rulled that what has been built so far must be immediately stopped.’
This Olympic facility was planned to be built on part of the 25,000 square meters occupied by the orchards of the residents of the popular neighborhood of Aubervilliers, where all kinds of fruit and vegetables are grown since late 19th century, which allows the most modest families to have their own products.
The rulling of the court came out fifteen days after the police cleared a campsite, kept for four months by neighbors and members of green groups, who tried to prevent the begining of the construction and the destruction of the workers’ orchards.
