A brigade of Russian military forces arrived in al-Sukhnah region in Syria’s Homs Governorate in order to pursue the remnants of the terrorist organization Islamic State (Daesh, for its acronym in Arabic), Al-Watan newspaper reported citing Syrian army officials.
The publication added that Russian regular troops set new points on both sides of the strategic road between Palmyra and Deir Ezzor, which is the target of repeated attacks by radical groups.
On Thursday, a Russian serviceman lost his life after an attack with explosives on an armored vehicle of the military police established by the Eurasian nation in Syrian territory, which was carrying out reconnaissance tasks prior to the passage of a humanitarian convoy in Homs.
Syria and Russia have repeatedly denounced that US forces illegally present in the national territory train and transfer Daesh extremists to use them in attacks on civilian communities and points controlled by the Syrian army and its allies in the desert.
