In a brief article published in newspaper El Caribe, the journalist wrote that beyond all ideological passion, the revolutionary island must be recognized as a unique event in world history.
He wonders, ‘In what other time or place has a small and underdeveloped country endured for more than sixty years the permanent confrontation with the most powerful hegemonic empire of all time?’
What country would have stood against all kinds of aggressions by that empire, located just 90 miles from its territory?, he added.
Colombo concluded with the question: Is there another people who, in the above-mentioned circumstances, has been able to show solidarity with all popular movements in the rest of the world, no matter where, demanding a better future? No other.
