Turkey and Egypt hold new round of talks

Ankara, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) The normalization of relations between Egypt and Turkey, as well as the return of the two countries' ambassadors to their respective embassies are issues being discussed at the talks in Ankara on Tuesday between delegations from the two nations.

After a first round of dialogue in May, the two countries are seeking to ease the rough diplomatic ties that have governed common exchange for eight years.

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal and his Egyptian counterpart, Hamdi Sanad Loza, are leading the talks in this capital, Anadolu Agency reported.

Following the coup d’état that overthrew the government of President Mohamed Morsi in Egypt in 2013, Ankara broke off relations with Cairo.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that he would not sit at the same table with the new Government nor would he legitimize it.

In April, the Turkey-Egypt Parliamentary Friendship Group was established in Ankara, at the proposal of the ruling Justice and Development Party of which Erdogan is a member.
