On August 31, the Government extended for two more months the decision to restrict foreign sales of this item, most consumed in Argentina, in order to contain its increase and ease tensions between the domestic and foreign markets, as well as correcting irregularities that occurred in operations to other countries.
‘Meat prices fell from the moment we restricted exports. It is not fair that the international value of beef is the same as that our fellow countrymen must pay. Take care of Argentinians’ table. That is our commitment’, the president said this Monday in a message on Twitter.
Fernández echoed a recent report by CEPA (Center for Argentine Political Economy), according to which the price of beef was reduced for two consecutive months.
Compared to previous months, in July and August the different cuts showed on average a fall of 1.0 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively.
By extending the restriction on exports last August, which will run until October 31, the Government pointed out that in terms of prices, the impact of the measures that temporarily limited foreign sales began to show positive results.
‘After two months, prices stabilized and even showed some retraction in different links of the chain. Consequently, it can be seen that measures taken have met the objective of reducing price dynamics’, the Chief executive said.
