In the morning update of its daily technical report, the institution pointed out that the number of deaths increased by 993, with a total of 261,496 since March of last year.

The speed in the reduction of infections confirms its downward trend, as the drop in positive cases is 14 percent for the period from August 15 to 21 compared to the previous epidemiological week, the report adds.

In spite of the Covid-19 infection curve, it added, Mexico continues to fall in active cases, while hospital occupancy fell by one percentage point in both general and ventilator beds, for a rate of 49 and 44 percent, respectively.

Regarding the update of the National Vaccination Strategy, the federal agency indicated that 470,311 doses were applied yesterday, for a total of 85. 845,792.

At national level, vaccination coverage is 65 percent of adults, with at least one dose applied.

Mexico has 127 million inhabitants, of which around 118 million will receive the vaccines, as the rest are children under 18 years old who are not yet included in the plan.
