He explained that the president’s work trip program also includes other events in that city and on the way he will visit the Vostochny cosmodrome, in Russia’s Amur region, according to the TASS news agency.

In recent days, the director general of the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos), Dmitri Rogozin, said he plans to meet with the head of state in the coming days to review the development prospects for manned cosmonautics.

Vostochny is the first Russian civil cosmodrome and as part of the first stage of its construction, between 2012-2016, a universal launch complex for the Soyuz-2 series rockets was built.

The second phase of the program includes the completion by the end of 2022 of a launch pad for the Angara-A5 rockets and other associated infrastructure.

During the works, Putin visited Vostochny several times and his last trip to the place was two years ago.
