The court, with three liberal justices dissenting, rejected the Biden administration’s bid to block a Texas-based judge’s ruling requiring the government to revive Trump’s ‘remain in Mexico’ policy, formally known as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program.
Earlier this year the Joe Biden administration put an end to such a strategy, but then, in April, the states of Texas and Missouri sued US government due to the increased toll of undocumented migrants in those territories on the southern border.
Immigrant advocates strongly believed that this program subjects those who seek to live in the United States to unsanitary conditions and violence.
Since his presidential campaign, Joe Biden has vowed to reverse most of Trump´s xenophobic policies and replace them with a more humane and orderly strategy.
