Lebanese deputy: there will be no government for a while

Beirut, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) Congressman Mario Aoun predicted that Lebanon will remain without a government for a while due to opposition from all sides.

According to the legislator, the opposition is trying to pass time until the end of the presidential term next year.

‘What is happening is a crime against Lebanon and its people,’ he denounced in statements made to the Lebanese radio.

This was the way in which Aoun alluded to the current economic and financial crisis that plunged almost 60 percent of Lebanese nationals below the poverty line, estimated at $3.64 a day, according to the World Bank.

‘Only some ministers are acting in an interim capacity,’ he said.

In his opinion, Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati behaves similarly to his predecessor, Saad Hariri, albeit with greater diplomacy.

Miqati is making statements that reflect a positive atmosphere, but in reality, he said, there is no desire to install a government alignment.
