According to The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, omega-3 acids are present in salmon, anchovies and sardines, as well as in plant-based products including flaxseed and chia seeds, soybeans and walnuts.
The study showed that making small changes in our daily diet can provide positive results.
For experts, it is enough to increase the levels of omega-3 acids in the blood by 1% to enjoy a life expectancy of about five years, compared to the 4.7 years tobacco deprives smokers.
Small changes can have a much more powerful effect, and it’s never too late to do so, experts said.
According to the American Journal, omega-3 acids are a polyunsaturated fat quite necessary to strengthen neurons and other all-important functions. In addition, they help keep the heart healthy and protected from stroke.
Omega-3 helps reduce triglycerides and the risk of developing irregular heartbeats known as arrhythmias.
