‘Cuba shows a low incidence, as a result of implementing a National Action Plan for the prevention and confrontation of human trafficking and the protection of victims,’ the head of Cuban diplomacy stressed on Twitter.
Since 2017, the Cuban Government has implemented this initiative, which is considered a tool for coordinated action between the State and civil society organizations.
The Plan develops training, a key element to increase the perception of risk, and establishes timely exchange with international agencies.
In addition, it offers specialized care to identified victims, as well as to those who are in a situation of vulnerability, particularly children, women, the elderly and people with disabilities.
According to Rodriguez, several legal instruments in force in the country make it possible to confront human trafficking and related behaviors such as pimping, pornography and child prostitution.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted July 30 as the World Day Against Human Trafficking, with the aim of raising awareness of the situation of the victims of human trafficking, promoting and protecting their rights.
