On his Twitter account, the head of Cuban diplomacy reported on his arrival in Mexico to participate in the meeting, where he will also show Cuba’s support for regional integration and the defense of its declaration as a Zone of Peace.
On Saturday, the meeting will open in Mexico, and it will be the prelude to the summit of heads of State, which will take place on September 18.
The meeting coincides with the 238th anniversary of the birthday of Liberator Simon Bolivar, to whom a broad program will be dedicated throughout the weekend, and the first part of which will be attended by the ministers of Foreign Affairs of the region.
The Chapultepec Castle will host the meeting, at which Mexico, which holds the pro tempore presidency of CELAC, will render the report on what has been done in the 2020-2021 period.
In addition, the agenda provides for the presentation of the Comprehensive Health Self-Sufficiency Plan and the Food Safety Cooperation Agreement.
The foreign ministers will review the documents that will be approved by the heads of State at their summit, to be held in person in Mexico City.
